Unique
Features
- What makes the Pacific Autism Center
so special is our belief that every child should be given the
opportunity of reaching their full potential. For some children,
if treatment is started early enough, they can reach recovery.
- Each child's program is individually
created and designed to meet their specific needs. No two children's
program is the same. Each program begins with multiple assessments to
develop a child's program. Children progress at their own pace due to
the individual nature of the therapy.
- We embrace parent's involvement.
We expect parents to be present during home sessions and to join in
so they can learn how to implement some of the behavioral techniques.
Parent training is an important component of our program.
- We provide a center with cameras
to monitor and supervise the children, staff and the programs.
At least 75% of the program is implemented in the center and the rest
of the sessions implemented in the home. Many ABA programs are based
in the home. There are pros and cons to this. It gives the parent maximum
opportunity to become involved in the therapy and is located in the
child’s natural environment but there are some components it misses,
it lacks each session being well supervised to monitor the staff, the
program and the behaviors. It leaves more of the oversight to the parent
which is not qualified to monitor an ABA program.
- We use a proven curriculum
that has been used for many years to help children recover. This curriculum
comes from the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, also known as
C.A.R.D. At CARD, they have a research team that is regularly updating
and revising their programs which keeps them on the cutting edge. We
benefit from this from the curriculum, the training and supervision
our staff receives.
- We have a team approach and
aggressively troubleshoot problem areas as they come up.
- We use standardized assessments
and monitor a child’s developmental progress every 3 months. Typically
our children triple and quadruple their developmental progress in comparison
to the>
- We offer treatment for children that
address higher level cognitive deficits. Children and
adolescents who have Aspergers and High Functioning Autism benefit greatly
from this program and is where many ABA programs are deficient.
